Renée has brought a strong background in marketing and economic, business and community development to WRA. She became the City of Olympia’s first Economic Development Director in July 2015 after serving as Deputy Director for the Thurston County Economic Development Council. Her diverse professional background includes leadership roles in a start-up company, banking and three Bellevue Square retailers.
Renée today represents the lone statewide association dedicated exclusively to studying and addressing government relations with the retail industry. With her office staff, she represents a diverse membership of some 3,500 storefronts across the state ranging from national chains to individual locations.
Among the highlights of Renée’s professional career, she:
· Launched and managed a new City of Olympia division to attract private investment to downtown while forming a partnership to remove downtown blight.
· Assisted in the development of the Center for Business & Innovation, a partnership between the Thurston EDC and South Puget Sound Community College.
· Co-led two successful business delegation trips to China, represented South Puget Sound regional business interests and sought foreign direct investment opportunities.
Renée has been active in leadership on several boards serving as the 2008 President of the Lacey Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; 2015 President of the Leadership Thurston County Board of Regents; 2017 Board President of the Thurston County Economic Development Council, Center for Business & Innovation and Business Representative for the Thurston Regional Planning Council, Transportation Policy Board from 2009-2015. Her other memberships include the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Washington Economic Development Association (WEDA) and the Olympia Rotary.
Renée attended Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington with a Business Administration focus, then completed courses through the International Economic Development Council and National Development Council.
