  • Right to request input into the work schedule.
  • Right to rest between work shifts.
  • Advance notice of work schedule.
  • Pay for work schedule changes.
  • Access to hours for existing employees.
  • Record-keeping requirements.
  • Poster and translation requirements.
  • Protection from retaliation.

New Secure Scheduling poster now available!

Download the new Secure Scheduling poster from the Secure Scheduling Ordinance web page. Covered employers must display the Secure Scheduling poster in a noticeable place at job sites, in English and the primary language(s) spoken by their employees. We are in the process of developing translated versions of the poster in Spanish and other languages; we will let you know as soon as they are available. Employers will not be required to display translated versions of the poster until we make them available.

Support for employers

Employers with questions about Secure Scheduling and other labor standards (Seattle’s Minimum Wage, Wage Theft, PSST, Fair Chance Employment, and the Hotel Employee Health and Safety Initiative) can reach our Business Liaisons in two ways:

  • Call 206-684-4500.
  • Email laborstandards@seattle.gov.
  • Privacy: Our Business Liaisons do not share information about employers with OLS’s enforcement unit. Our goal is to help employers understand the laws and identify ways to achieve compliance.
  • Interpretation: OLS uses LanguageLine interpretation services to speak with callers in any language, and accesses translation services to respond to emails written in languages other than English.
  • OLS on the web: For Labor Standards posters, fact sheets and Frequently-Asked-Questions, visit www.seattle.gov/laborstandards.
