Rep. Cary Condotta, a consistent supporter of retail issues, has announced he will not seek re-election after a 16-year career in the state Legislature.
The East Wenatchee Republican said he was considering several unspecified opportunities in politics. Some of those opportunities may require him to move out of the 12th District he represents, he said.
Condotta cited the strain of Legislature service including several consecutive annual sessions in Olympia that stretched into overtime. Among his most fulfilling accomplishments, Condotta cited helping Republicans gain 14 seats in the House of Representatives and restoring state tourism promotion funding that was eliminated in the last recession.
Condotta plans to complete his term at the end of the year.
